L'IGF Italia 2012 si è sviluppato nel corso di due giornate, precedute da un pomeriggio aperto a incontri e discussioni della società civile. Obiettivo principale del Forum è stato quello di definire i contenuti della partecipazione italiana all'IGF globale in programma a Baku (Azerbaijan), dal 6 al 9 novembre 2012, seguendo la natura aperta e multistakeholder che è propria dell'IGF. Il contributo dell'edizione italiana ha consentito di identificare e discutere aspetti che stanno assumendo particolare rilevanza nel contesto della governance di Internet all'interno del nostro paese, coinvolgendo i diretti interessati, a partire dalla società civile e dagli utenti di Internet, ma anche rappresentanti del settore privato e delle amministrazioni pubbliche centrali e periferiche. L'IGF Italia 2012 è stato organizzato dal Consorzio Top-IX, da CSP - Innovazione nelle ICT e dal Centro Nexa su Internet & Società del Politecnico di Torino (Dipartimento di Automatica e Informatica) nel ruolo di coordinatore scientifico; con il supporto e il patrocinio di Regione Piemonte, Comune di Torino, Camera di Commercio di Torino e Politecnico di Torino, con il patrocinio di Expo 2015 e in collaborazione con Fondazione Torino Wireless, Istituto di Informatica e Telematica del CNR e ISOC Italia, e con il sostegno di Google (Main sponsor) e Vodafone (Sponsor).
The Italian IGF in 2012 was organised over two days, preceded by an open afternoon which included meetings and discussions involving sectors of civil society. The main aim of the Forum was to define the agenda of the Italian participation at the Global IGF to be held in Baku (Azerbaijan), from 6 to 9 November 2012. This follows the open and multistakeholder approach adopted by the IGF. The Italian meeting identified and discussed aspects that are becoming ever more important within the context of Internet governance in Italy. This involves those directly interested, starting from civil society and Internet users, but also representatives of the private sector and central and local public administration. The IGF Italy 2012 was organised by the Top-IX Consortium, CSP - Innovation in ICT and by Nexa Center for Internet and Society of the Politecnico di Torino (Department of Control and Computer Engineering) in the role of scientific coordinator. This was with the financial support of Regione Piemonte, Turin District Council, Chamber of Commerce of Turin and Politecnico di Torino, with the sponsorship of Expo 2015 and in collaboration with the Torino Wireless Foundation, the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR (Italian National Research Council) and ISOC Italy, and with the support of Google (Main sponsor) and Vodafone (Sponsor).
