Classe 1952. Laurea in Ingegneria elettronica all'Università di Genova, professore associato alla Facoltà di Ingegneria dell’Università di Genova dove ha tenuto corsi in Sistemi Operativi. Alla fine degli anni '80 ha realizzato la prima rete Internet aperta all'utenza non accademica (IUnet) ed ha partecipato alla nascita di EUnet, la maggiore rete telematica europea aperta all’ambiente non accademico dei primi anni '90. Nel 1994 ha lasciato la carriera accademica per costituire ITnet S.p.A. di cui è stato A.D. fino al 2000. Nel 1995 è stato tra i promotori di AIIP, di cui è stato il Presidente fino al 1997, attualmente è vicepresidente dell'Associazione. Ha avuto incarichi dirigenziali in Wind, I.NET e Netdish; attualmente è Presidente di MIX s.r.l., il principale Internet Exchange neutrale in Italia. È membro della Comitato per le regole del Registro ".it", di cui è presidente. È stato autore di numerosi lavori scientifici pubblicati su riviste ed atti di convegni su temi di ricerca che vanno dalle architetture a parallelismo massiccio, ai linguaggi di programmazione, ai sistemi operativi e i sistemi distribuiti. Ha tenuto svariate presentazioni e scritto articoli su Internet e sulle reti, sia per gli aspetti tecnici e di business, sia da un punto di vista socio-culturale. Tra i principali esperti di Internet in Italia, è tra i promotori di IGF ITALIA e ha partecipato al processo del Global Forum sulla governance di Internet.

Born in 1952, degree in Electronic Engineering in 1976 at the University of Genoa. Associate professor of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Genoa, where he taught courses in "Operating Systems". He has been technical director of IUnet, the first Italian network connected to Internet and open to non-academic users. In 1994 he founded ITnet S.p.A. and he has been its CEO until 2000. In 1995 he has been among the founders of the Italian Association of Internet Service Providers (AIIP), currently he serves as vice-president in AIIP. He has had senior positions in the Wind, I.NET and Netdish and currently is President of MIX srl, the company which manages the major IP peering point in Italy. Today he is chairing the "Policy Board" of the Italian Registry of ccTLD ".IT". He has published (during his academic years) more than 50 papers on various research themes, spanning from massively parallel architectures, to innovative programming languages, to operating systems and distributed systems. During his professional career he has made several presentations and written articles about Internet and networking, both from a technical/business point of view and socio/cultural point of view. Among the foremost Internet experts in Italy, is among the promoters of IGF ITALY and has participated in the process of the Internet Governance Forum Global.
